It's an Edd Life (EddXMarie)

Part 2

Edd stood outside of the cafeteria, waiting for his two best friends. He was marveled at the fact that Eddy might actually go through with this. After all, they were the Kanker sisters of course, the scourge of the Cul-De-Sac. Edd began to laugh at the thought, he never really thought of that since he saw her at the lake the last day of summer. Even before that, he had noticed a change in her. She had really tried to clean up her act. ‘It’s probably because of her cousin,’ he guessed, ‘he’s actually a nice guy. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was true.’

“Hey Sockhead!” Eddy’s voice broke Edd out of his train of thought. He looked up to see Eddy walking towards him with Ed hiding behind him. Seeing the comparison, Edd had just realized how tall Eddy had gotten over the years. He was still was short, but he had at least grown a few inches.

“Greetings gentlemen,” Edd said with enthusiasm.

“So where’s your girlfriend?” Eddy asked, Ed looking around nervously as if expecting May to come right out of the walls.

“She and her sisters have class on the other end of the campus.” Edd replied. “They should be here any minute.” And as soon as he said that, he spotted the three girls making their way towards them. As soon as Marie caught a glimpse of Edd, she ran up to him, wrapped her arms around his neck, and planted a big kiss on him, making the other two Eds make gagging noises. Edd rolled his eyes as she released him from the kiss. “I guess the usual greeting suffices. But this time, it appears to be from the both of us.”

“Right back at ‘cha.” She replied with a wink. She moved out of the way so that Edd could get a good look at his friends. May was in the middle of giving Ed a big, bear hug, while Lee had Eddy against the wall. “Are you sure this is a good idea?”

Edd just smiled. “For what they did to you,” he said, “this would appear to be a proper punishment. Besides,” he looked at Marie with different smile than before, “it’s only for today. After that, they won’t have to hang out with us if they don’t want to.”

“I guess,” she looked away from Edd as if she didn’t like this side of him. He couldn’t blame her. He had never been the one for retribution, with a deep sigh, he whistled to the other Kankers.

“Okay,” he said separating them, “they’ve suffered enough. Thank you very much for your help.”

“You mean,” Eddy began, “we won’t have to eat lunch with them?”

“Oh no, Eddy,” Edd replied, “that was just getting you back for what you did to Marie. You are still eating with them. I guess I should apologize.”

“Nah,” Eddy waved his hand, “I guess we kinda deserved that.”

“Yeah,” Ed said looking down, “sorry Marie.”

“Its okay guys,” she replied, “I understand. You were just trying to help a friend. Just next time, ask him how he wants to be helped.”

“Got it.” Ed and Eddy said together. When all was said and done, the group walked into the lunch room. Immediately, the room went quiet. Every one stopped to see what they never thought was possible. The Eds and the Kankers… Having lunch together? They watched as they made their way to the lunch line. Edd just laughed it off. After grabbing their lunch, they all took a seat at the Eds usual table. Edd looked around at his friends. Eddy looked a little uncomfortable, and Ed, was being his normal self, that was until May pulled out from her bag an Evil Tim comic. Then he and May began to talk about their favorite comics and movies. Double Dee gave a small laugh.

“What’s up, Edd?” Marie asked, noticing his laugh. All he did was nod his head towards the two. That’s when she began to laugh, making May and Ed look at her. When they notice what was happening, both of them began to blush. That incident was all that occurred during lunch. Everyone, for the exception of Edd and Marie, who kept laughing, ate in silence. The day went by easily after lunch for the Eds. All for the exception of Ed, who was still mulling over what had happened in the lunchroom.

After school, Edd was still trying to convince Eddy to give Lee a chance. “She isn’t all that bad Eddy,” he said, “all you need to do is give her a chance.”

“Sorry Double Dee,” he replied, “Not gonna happen.”

Double Dee sighed. “Very well.

“Anyway,” Eddy said stopping in front of his house, “I got homework to do. I’ll see you guys later.” And with that, he went into his house. Double Dee had just turned around when he bumped into Ed.

“Ed?” Double Dee was confused. “What’s wrong?” He could tell that there was something on the big guy’s mind.

“Double Dee?” Ed began. “Kankers are bad for Ed, aren’t they?”

“According to you, but I hardly see what this has to do with that?”

“Then why can’t I get May out of my head?” Ed was practically shouting at this point, surprising for the first time since the whole pebble incident. “Ever since lunch,” he continued, “I haven’t been able to stop thinking of her. Is this bad?” Edd just laughed.

“Of course not Ed,” he replied, “it just means that you have fallen in love with her. But why would this be a problem?”

Ed looked down. “Because I don’t know what to do. I mean, I have been afraid of May for so long, to find out that she and I have the same interests…” He stops talking as he stares out into space.

Edd laughs. “I understand. May I make a suggestion?” Ed looks back at him, encouraging him to continue. “Let’s go talk to May and see where we can go from there.” The big guy closed his eyes and gave a slight nod. With that, the two Eds made their way to the Park N’ Flush trailer park, hoping to cure Ed of his dilemma.
